Rocky Mountain PBS KIDS (RMPBS KIDS) is throwing a party, and you’re invited! Get ready for the Rocky Mountain PBS KIDS FEST, bringing neighbors together to celebrate, learn, and connect at Long Family Memorial Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2023. RMPBS KIDS invites Colorado families out to play with memorable experiences and local resources to grow your community circles. “We are proud to bring RMPBS KIDS FEST back to Grand Junction. It means so much to be able to bring neighbors and families together to celebrate, learn, and connect with each other and with community resources. We wouldn’t be able to do this without incredible support from donors, nonprofits, government organizations, and businesses across Colorado—it really takes a village” says Alex Forsett, Rocky Mountain Public Media’s Western Colorado Regional Director & Statewide University Partnerships. Nearly 30 community partners will present a day of fun educational activities for the whole family. Create your own art projects, join a storytelling circle, decorate your face with colorful stencils, learn about solar and wind-powered energy, create your own art projects, play games that boost brain development, learn to ride a bike, practice dental hygiene skills, and more. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to meet our most popular guests, Daniel Tiger and Clifford the Big Red Dog. Community partners include CASA of Mesa County, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Grand Valley, MarillacHealth, Martial Arts Research Systems, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, The Art Center of Western Colorado, Girl Scouts of Colorado, Mesa County Libraries, Colorado Heart Gallery, Jolley Smiles, Roice-Hurst Humane Society, The Hi Fives Robotics, Parent Possible, Hilltop Community Resources, JustServe Grand Junction Colorado, Landmark Baptist School, St. Mary's Life Center Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Program, IntelliTec College, Grand Valley Power, Adaptive Heroes, Generation Wild / Great Outdoors Colorado, Majestic Mesas Scouts USA/Greater Colorado Council, Community Food Bank, Centro Colorado Head Start, Western Colorado Area Health Education Center, The Cycle Effect, and Renewal by Andersen. “Back by popular demand, we’re bringing PBS KIDS characters, Daniel Tiger and Clifford the Big Red Dog, to meet and snap photos with kids and families, while they connect with a diverse group of local organizations and resources centered around young childhood development,” says RMPBS KIDS Manager Wendy Allen. RMPBS KIDS started in 1996 and continues to connect families to enjoyable learning experiences that build bridges to community resources with new generations across Colorado. KOE WETZEL

bottles in his wake wherever he goes. Proudly hailing from Northeast Texas, he has quietly asserted himself as the ultimate country rockstar, bulldozing the boundaries between Nashville songcraft, rowdy Texas spirit, and rainswept Seattle hard rock. After moving 1 million units under the radar and popping off as one of the hottest live performers in the game, he welcomes everyone to the party on his 2022 full-length offering, Hell Paso [Columbia Records]. “I did what I wanted to do,” he exclaims. “This was straight up me. Nobody told me to do this record. We pulled in every genre we were feeling at the time. We spent the last ten years trying to make this sound —Hell Paso is it.” Never compromising, Koe might just be the last real rebel out there. The Gold-selling singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer shakes up the status quo, shatters expectations, and sticks to his guns with a sound steeped in country storytelling, yet spiked with grunge grit. He’s unapologetic, undeniable, and unlike anyone else you’ve ever heard. Without anything to prove and nothing to lose, he continues to kick ass on his own terms. Breaking through with a series of independent releases and tallying over 1.3 billion streams to date, he has impressively notched three RIAA Gold-certified singles, including “February 28, 2016,” “Something To Talk About,” and “Drunk Driving.” The latter adorned his 2020 Columbia Records debut, Sellout, which arrived to widespread critical acclaim from American Songwriter, Billboard, The Boot, Rolling Stone, and more. At the same time, he has quietly emerged as a powerhouse performer. He graced Pollstar’s “Top Worldwide Tours” back-to-back in 2020 and 2021, moving hundreds of thousands of Tickets in the process. In addition to headlining his own Koe Wetzel’s Incredible Music Festival, he has packed arenas, amphitheaters, and ballparks across North America, attracting a devout audience

blues, and rock. A member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a Grammy recipient, Jorma was at the forefront of popular rock and roll, one of the founders of the San Francisco sound and a progenitor of Psychedelic Rock. He is a founding member of two legendary bands, Jefferson Airplane and the still-touring Hot Tuna. Jorma Kaukonen is a music legend and one of the finest singer-songwriters in his field. He continues to tour the world bringing his unique styling to old blues tunes while presenting new songs of weight and dimension. His secret is in playing spontaneous and unfiltered music, with an individual expression of personality. In 2016, Jorma, Jack Casady and the other members of Jefferson Airplane were awarded The GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions to American music.

GREENSKY BLUEGRASS

For two decades now, Greensky Bluegrass have been building an empire, brick by brick. They are widely known for their dazzling live performances and

relentless touring schedule, but that is only the tip of the complex tale of the five musicians that make up Greensky Bluegrass: Anders Beck [dobro], Michael Arlen Bont [banjo], Dave Bruzza [guitar], Mike Devol [upright bass], and Paul Hoffman [Mandolin]. The five are connected through a deep bond, just as they are seasoned road warriors, they’re a band of brothers who have seen each other through decades of ups and downs, personal and collective highlights, and the moments when life turns it all upside down. These are real people having real experiences. As with traditional bluegrass, they write about their own contemporary day-to-day happenings, emotions, and experiences in the modern world. The band’s underground die-hard fans pack out venues across the country. They travel in droves and sell out multiple-night show runs at iconic venues like Red Rocks and The Ryman. “As songwriters and musicians, we have a need for people to be on board, we’re not just regurgitating the same shit,” explains Bruzza. Hoffman adds, “we aren’t a band all for money. We did it for romantic reasons such as love, catharsis, and because it mattered to us and the listeners. It would be easy to make decisions based on our needs to eat or the desires of others, but that’s not doing it for love. We love what we do, and we’re grateful for the love we receive in return from the people listening.” Bruzza continues, “I hope they know we’re doing this for us and them.”

graduating from college, Dickerson felt called to take his music on the road, cutting his teeth while playing shows across the US, frequently for small audiences and an even smaller paycheck. That same drive has made Dickerson the first artist to release four consecutive career-starting singles that reached No. One on the Biillboard Country Airplay chart since Luke Combs. He also joins Combs as the second solo artist and fourth act overall to have four or more singles reach No. One on the Country Airplay chart since its inception decades ago. Those back to back chart-topping singles include “Yours” (3X Platinum), “Blue Tacoma” (2X Platinum), “Every Little Thing” (Platinum), “Love You Like I Used To” (Platinum) and most recently Dickerson’s current single “She Likes It” ft. Jake Scott has already been certified Gold with 170 millions streams to date. This Fall, he will embark on a sold-out tour in the UK and headline a tour throughout the US starting in November.
