her letters to her husband, John Adams, Jessica weaves a factual, first person narrative. Abigail regales her audience with stories about about life in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during the American Revolution: the Battle of Bunker Hill, her family's Smallpox inoculation and the first time she hears the Declaration for Independence. After concluding her monolog, you will have the opportunity to ask Abigail questions about her experiences. You will also be able to ask questions of Jessica as the researcher of Abigail Adams

AUGUST 2022 WRITER'S NIGHT
Textures: Considering Sound in Writing
6:00pm-7:30pm, 1803 N. 7th Street
Join us as local poet Lisa Wence Connors presents

Textures: Considering Sound in Writing. In writing, sound is more than just using sound words, like whisper or clang. Sound is the actual letters themselves and the sounds they make. Consider what a garden sounds like – long and short I’s, soft S’s and H’s, perhaps? Using Hyacinth or Narcissus, rather than flowers gives the feeling of a quiet morning in the garden. Choosing the right words based on sound can add subtle layers of meaning, tone, and texture to our writing.
