Leaders!!! Last fall we started a scholarship endowment for OP Trip Leaders to obtain outdoor industry standard certifications. These certifications not only help our students become better trip leaders here at the Outdoor Program, but it helps them to be safer recreators in our community and gives them more opportunities as they graduate and begin to look for careers in the industry. 100% of the profit from this event goes directly to this scholarship fund. Tickets include dinner from on site food trucks, beer from local breweries, live music by Shea Bramer, a photo booth and a huge silent auction! Some of the items in the silent auction include a 16' fully rigged oar frame raft, a 10'10 Hala Rado Stand Up Paddle Board Package, tickets to the Palisade Bluegrass Festival, NRS Bucket of Straps, Downtown Grand Junction Gift Cards and MANY more items donated by our incredible community partners!

JIM MESSINA
7:00pm-9:30pm, Avalon Theater
From LOGGINS & MESSINA, POCO AND BUFFALO
more...0
SPRINGFIELD Few musical artists résumés list membership in a band inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; fewer still can lay claim to being a founding member of the seminal band credited with creating Country Rock; and only one artist can include all the above in addition to being one half of the most successful duos of the 1970s. A supremely talented guitarist, Jim Messina began working with the legendary band Buffalo Springfield in 1966 as a recording engineer on their second album Buffalo Springfield Again. In 1967, at the request of the group and Atlantic Records founder and president Ahmet Ertegun, Messina was asked to produce the band’s third and final album. Shortly thereafter, he replaced Bruce Palmer, the bass player, touring and recording with the band up until completion and release of their album Last Time Around. In 1968, when Buffalo Springfield disbanded, Messina signed a contract with Epic Records as a producer and a recording artist. Along with fellow Buffalo Springfield member Richie Furay, he formed Poco (originally named “Pogo” after the famous comic strip character). The band’s aptly titled 1969 debut Pickin’ Up The Pieces is the only debut album ever to receive a perfect rating from Rolling Stone magazine; the landmark album laid the blueprint for the then new musical genre uniting country with rock music and it blazed the pathway for future multi-million selling artists like the Eagles.

FLO RIDA

Born Tramar Dillard on September 17, 1979, Flo
more...0
Rida was raised by a single mother in Miami's rough neighborhood of Carol City, Florida. Music helped Flo Rida stay on the straight path. His father was a talented musician who encouraged his son to express himself through music. Growing up, Flo Rida was exposed to all kinds of music, thanks in large part to his sisters, some of whom formed a local gospel group. When he was a teenager, Flo Rida found local success rapping with a group called the Groundhoggz. At 18, he became the hype man for Fresh Kid Ice from 2 Live Crew. Eventually, Flo Rida caught the attention of DeVante Swing, formerly of famed R&B group Jodeci and spent a few years in Los Angeles working with him. Unable to land a record deal, Flo Rida returned home to Miami and in late 2006 hooked up with Poe Boy Entertainment and its CEO, Elric 'E-Class' Prince. In December 20, 2006 Flo Rida inked a deal with Atlantic Records and in 2009 started his own management company, Strong Arm, with longtime friend and manager, Lee ' Freezy' Prince. With the success of his management company Flo Rida and Lee 'Freezy' Prince launched their own record label, IMG, in June 2011. With his musical success Flo Rida got back to his roots of giving back and started 'Big Dreams For Kids' a nonprofit foundation that is committed to inspiring future leaders.
