Suicide Prevention and Awareness Event

The 4th Annual Pedal for Prevention will be held across the 10 counties that we serve and include the towns of Aspen, Craig, Eagle/Vail, Glenwood more...0 Springs, Granby, Grand Junction, Meeker, Rangely, Rifle, Steamboat Springs and Walden. September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 13.7 minutes, claiming more than 46,000 lives each year. It is estimated that an attempt is made every minute, with close to 1.2 million people attempting suicide annually. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. among adults 18-65, and the second leading cause of death among teens and young adults. Pedal for Prevention brings together survivors of suicide, their families, friends, and supporters of suicide prevention and awareness. This event is an opportunity to “move” for something that matters- whether that’s for health, recovery, or in memory of a loved one with the goal to raise money for life saving suicide prevention and mental health programs through Mind Springs Health and West Springs Hospital. Ready to join Pedal for Prevention? 1. Register for the event! 2. After registering, you’ll receive a Suicide Prevention T-shirt and fun swag prior to the weekend of the event. 3. On September 16 and/or 17, put on your event t-shirt and go for a bike ride, take a yoga class, hike, run, paddle, play a golf round – ANYTHING you feel like doing AND may even be doing anyway. 4. Make it a group activity with friends, family, co-workers OR go solo! Either way, you’re moving for something that matters and bringing awareness to a great cause. (If joining a team, make sure to note team name during registration.) Take pictures or videos and share them on our Facebook event page or tag us on Instagram (#mindspringsfoundation) and let us know why this event is important to you!

As the band celebrates their 20th anniversary this year, their reverence for Georgia has only deepened. On their latest album, You Hear Georgia, the follow-up to 2018's critically acclaimed Find a Light, Blackberry Smoke is further celebrating these roots with 10 new songs that feel like Georgia, accented by the addition of Grammy-winning producer and fellow Georgia-native, Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile). "Dave and I had spoken for the last few years about making a record," Starr says. "Finally, it worked out, our schedule and his schedule, and we said, yes -- let's make a record."
