All audience members will be entered for the chance to win prizes at CWP's Rainbow Party immediately after! Slamming Bricks is an intersectional (LBGTQ+ & BIPOC centered) slam poetry competition exploring resistance and liberation in honor of the 1969 Stonewall Riots. Poets from all over the American West compete in four rounds of poetry in a battle for the brick. The competition is scored by a panel of judges, which has included Colorado Poet Laureate, Bobby LeFebre (2020). Slamming Bricks is a free, 21+ event (some exceptions made for performers). A Youtube live stream will also be available for all audiences. Competing for the brick this year: 1. Sarah Swedberg 2. Dalton Telschow 3. Briana Hammerstrom 4. Lydia Gates 5. Kimberly Jarchow 6. Adrienne Cascarella 7. Aerik Francis 8. Nico Wilkinson This year, in addition to our standard performer package, poets will also have all of their pieces published in a Slamming Bricks anthology! for his entire musical career, without any regard to what sells at the time. His new record, Long Time Comin’, is a celebration of that no-fracks aesthetic, featuring new material alongside fully-realized re-recordings of old songs, all rough edges and loud noises camouflaging a remarkable knack for pop songwriting and mind-bending musicianship.

panel discussion and Q&A.
In 2012, Dawn & Brian moved to Grand Junction, CO from Albuquerque, NM with no jobs, and no place to live. Nine years later, they’re farming on an acre and a half of land at Green Junction Farmstead, feeding over 100 families every week with fresh, healthy produce. The rich, living soil, vibrant flora and fauna, and tight-knit community present on the farm didn’t appear overnight, but grew from years of long days and late nights. From the years of hardships and triumphs, heartbreak and joy, a universal truth emerges; healing the soil heals both planet and people.
