Play Records is set to host Record Store Day 2024 starting at 10am on April 20 with hundreds of limited, one-of-a-kind independent record store exclusives ONLY available at your local record store. These releases are available for the first time only on Saturday April 20th, worldwide. Customers who come early will receive limited edition Record Store Day promotional merch with purchase while supplies last. John Tonic from Tonic Selects Sound-System will be spinning records all morning and early afternoon. Rhyan Montgomery, our artist for this year’s RSD 2024 poster, will be in attendance signing limited edition prints of the poster as well as tote bags and t-shirts. Giselle Genova, our window artist, will also be on attendance with her limited edition ‘Wild For You’ t-Shirts. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of both items will benefit the artists directly. Noah, the lead sales associate from The Happy Camper, will be set up from 11am to 2pm with coupons for use at their Palisade location. Pronto Bronto, a local food truck, will offer breakfast and lunch throughout the day, 9 A.M. to about 2 P.M. Underdog Cheese, another local food truck, will be pulling in at about 2 P.M. and stay until the evening. In addition, Corb Lund, a Canadian country and western sing-songwriter from Taber, Alberta, who will be playing at Warehouse 265 later that night, is performing an in-store at 4:30pm with a chance for signatures and meeting after. “Short of closing down the street for the day in the future, this year is going to be one of the biggest parties ever for Record Store Day in Grand Junction,” said Rock Cesario, owner of Triple Play Records. Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today, Record Store Day is celebrated at independently owned brick-and-mortar record stores around the world.
