has surpassed 300,000. In an attempt to grasp the magnitude of the number of people who have died Linda McBride and Rachel Egelston, artists from Grand Junction, have collaborated in the creation of The Rose Petals COVID Memorial. This is special community art project recognizing & honoring Americans, their families, and friends who have lost their lives this year due to COVID-19.
Dozens of panels have been printed with beautiful red rose petals overlaid with 4,680 small squares. The community has been invited to place a silver dot inside each square representing a person who has died from COVID. This process of intentionally placing dots on the panels, has been done in silence with love and honor, as each square is symbolic of each life.
