Put a Coed Team of 4 Together. Name Your Team. Then WAKE THE GOBLIN! Come out to Imondi Wake Zone and show your support for Colorado Discover Ability, CDA, by completing fitness challenges and rewarding yourself afterwards with Jerk Chicken Tacos, hand crafted brew by Copper Club Brewing, refreshments provided by Advocare, and a live performance by Wave 11. This 8th annual event fundraiser for local organizations will be fun for the whole family with games and kids’ face painting! The fitness challenge includes water obstacles, running, yard games, brain teasers, burpees and biking. Modifications are available. 100% of the proceeds of this event go to CDA. 10AM-3PM, on the Delta Field just east of the Fine Arts building. Tours of the art building will be held throughout the day and MED (Mesa Emerging Designers) Will be giving away 2018 Artober T-Shirts to everyone who visits each booth and completes the Artober punch card. Suzie Garner will facilitate a Sidewalk Chalk Contest, limited to five teams or individuals, with prizes awarded to the top three. Chalk provided. Pre-registration required: please email sgarner@coloradomesa.edu to sign up. MED will have a Temporary Graffiti Wall; spray paint provided. The MED store will be providing schwag for purchase as well. The Ceramics faculty and students will demonstrate wheel throwing. Wheels and clay will be available for beginners to try wheel throwing. Clay Club and Sculpture Guild will have an assortment of student ceramic pieces and other 3D artwork for sale. Animation, Film, Photography & Motion Design will be offering $5.00 matted studio portraits. Artists will be on hand to draw caricatures for a nominal fee. There will be a free exhibit of student work in film, animation, and motion design. And, there will be options to purchase student-created objects in motion, fresh baked goods, and hot popcorn. The print makers will be live printing with a road roller large woodcuts (up to 30" X 90"). Participants are welcome to bring their own large blocks or "grids" of smaller blocks for printing. Contact Professor Butler at jobutler@coloradomesa.edu by Sept 15 for participation details and so that we can be sure to have enough supplies. Sculpture Guild will cast sculptures in molten iron during an Iron Pour. They will begin pouring around 12PM and won’t stop until all the molds are poured. Musicians from CMU’s Music department will be playing live on Delta Field during Artober Fest. All proceeds from sales during Artober Fest benefit the individual student-run art clubs.
