Finding humor is another of the 16 Habits of Mind. Math can be frustrating! If you are going to understand fractions and their equivalent decimals you will have to study. You might also need to just laugh at yourself a bit to relieve the tension. Learning may be a little easier if you can just find a little humor. Laughter is contagious and these girls work through their math woes by having fun doing it!

The store that they go to just so happens to be out of Red Velvet on that day, so his mother informs him that he needs to consider all of his options and look at things from a different perspective in order to still get what he really wants, James is fortunate to have a mother who is happy to help him learn about one of the sixteen habits of mind where thinking flexibly can help work things out. In this story, with a little help from Dad and Mrs. Tobin, these former 3rd grade boys work together to build a treehouse. In order to get an entire month off from homework they use their new treehouse to invent a bottle cap rocket launcher.
