We’ll wrap up on Saturday, September 14 with a free outdoor Maker's Market in Memorial Park featuring live music and other family-friendly activities throughout the day.

Book Sales are held on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Grand Junction, 1425 N. 5th St. (Across from the old Grand Junction High School). And coming October 17th-19th, mark your calendar for the big annual book sale! All proceeds from the Weekend Book Sales benefit Mesa County Libraries programs, including Summer Reading, Comic Con, and Culture Fest. Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Burque Jazz Bandits bring you fun danceable music inspired by 1920’s-40’s swing jazz, with toe-tapping rhythms, sizzling instrumentals and passionate vocals. About Quemando
Based out of Boulder, Colorado, the Quemando Salsa Band has been satisfying the music scene for 13 years now. This high-energy 11-piece band performs traditional and contemporary sounds of Latin Music, comprised of Cuban-style drum kit, Timbales, Congas, bass, piano, 5 vocalists, and a 3-piece horn section. The members of the band are collectively from Colombia, México, Peru, Panama, and the USA.

welcome! (No admission charge.) In conjunction with Campaign Nonviolence Action Days, Sept 21-Oct 2 Dee Wernette will be offering a 3-part workshop on conflict and conservation. In this workshop we will define and discuss conflict and cooperation, various conflict resolution options, and identify issues underlying conflicts. We will discuss and apply concepts and communication techniques to conflict examples. Participants will be encouraged to bring other examples of conflicts to subsequent classes, for application of the conflict options. Limited role-playing opportunities will be offered to practice and apply skills/techniques in the context of the participants' examples. Dee taught a sociology of conflict course at the university level for 25+ years, and trained federal staff on conflict management/resolution techniques at a Dept. of Energy national laboratory. Healso published articles in related peer-reviewed journals. Number of class meetings, length of time: 3 classes, 1.5-2 hours each This workshop is part of the Campaign Nonviolence Action Days, Sept 21-Oct 2, 2024, to build a culture of peace and active nonviolence, free from war, poverty, racism, and environmental destruction.
