Kick off your holiday season more...0 in grand style as the Western Colorado Chorale and full forces of the GJSO unite for an evening of your favorite yuletide hits! Beloved carols and classic seasonal tunes infused with the power and magic of a full orchestra and chorus. Under the batons of Charles Latshaw and Dirk Johnson, the stage comes alive with the joyful melodies of the season, transporting audiences to a world of holiday cheer and merriment. When to Arrive: Doors open one hour before the performance; most people arrive 40 minutes early. Concessions are available before the concert and at intermission. Parking: Plenty of parking around Colorado Mesa University Performing Arts Center with no passes needed on weekends or after 5 p.m. on Fridays. Dress Code: Wear what you like; dressing up is optional. General Guide for Applause: Clap for the Concertmaster, Conductor, and after each piece. Etiquette: Please silence devices, limit noise, and be considerate to ensure everyone enjoys the performance.

Don't miss out on the annual holiday tradition of The Nutcracker ballet at CMU's new Asteria Theatre from December 19-23. Eight live more...0 performances of this full-length ballet will be presented by Western Colorado's premier professional ballet company, Colorado West Performing Arts Company (CWPAC). This enchanting two-act ballet takes you alongside Clara's magical journey to defeat the Mouse King and join the Nutcracker Prince in the Land of Sweets, leaving the theatre with plenty to share and remember. Featuring thirteen professional company artists, three trainees, and other talented local youth who auditioned for supporting roles, this show runs just under two hours, including a 20-minute intermission. After each performance, opportunities to meet the cast and take photos will be available in the auditorium or lobby.

Group more...0 singing and movement are part of many indigenous traditions. These circle dances honor all spiritual traditions and will be accompanied by LIVE MUSIC. This event is hosted by our trusted guide Bernie Heideman who is a certified dance leader with experience leading dances all over the world. The words, melody, and movements of each dance are taught before doing the dance. No experience or partners are needed nor is having a “good” voice. Please invite friends that may be interested. Join us on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 6 p.m. at The Art Center in Grand Junction for an unforgettable immersive writing session with Wendy more...0 Videlock. RSVPs are strongly encouraged as we will move about the Art Center and would like to plan accurately. Wendy will guide you on using art as a tool for reflection, activating your imagination, and evoking vivid description in all types of writing including memoir, nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. Writers of every genre will enjoy and benefit from these exercises whether you write thrillers, cozy mysteries, historical fiction, poetry, holiday letters, blog posts, technical manuals, or anything in between! In the world of poetry, this is known as ekphrasis, “a literary device consisting of a vivid, detailed description of a visual work of art.” The Art Center has generously opened every gallery to the WCWF for this session. The art exhibits on display that night are: Terry Shepherd +1: Clay Vessels 2024 Exhibit The Sky is the Limit – an exhibition focusing on clouds as the primary subject matter The 7 Principles of Art and Design: Shape – featuring works from The Art Center’s Permanent Collection Kephart: Collector’s Exhibit We encourage all writers to RSVP for this special writer’s night session!
