STRAIGHT, NO CHASER -- Don
6:30 pm - 9 pm, Wednesdays -- Jazz
This program is dedicated to all forms of jazz, including; classic, jazz/blues crossover, soul jazz, piano blues, bop, hard bop, latin, free, and avant garde with primary emphasis given to instrumental interpretations. I am very fond of polyrhythmic, polyphonic and melodic music. Occasionally, I will venture into free and avant garde jazz but always on the side of the tasteful.
I have been involved with music from an early age. At six, I started the study of classical piano, which I have pretty much stuck with my whole life. Also, I have studied the trumpet and the classical guitar for several years. Inspirations are: Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Tarrega, Jobet, Lee Morgan, Dizzy, Chet Baker, Miles, Eldar, Stanley Turrentine, Gene Harris, Oscar Peterson, Kenny Burrell, Duke, Marsalis Family, Jimmy Smith, Ronnie Earl, Lenny Breau, Coltrane, Mobley, et al.
Some of my favorite albums include KIND OF BLUE, CAPE VERIDIAN BLUES, SUGAR, BLACK AND BLUE, ELDAR, CHOPIN NOCTURNES, DUKE IN BLUE, BACK AT THE CHICKEN SHACK, etc.
