YELLOWDOG RADIO -- Karl Prager
6:30 pm - 9 pm, Thursdays -- Jam Band and Americana
I play psychedelia from the '60s and '70s and its current manifestations in electronica and jam bands, mixing 20% long cuts from "classic" albums, 20% personal favorites and 60% newest releases from the New Rack.
I grew up in Louisiana, becoming a music fan in the early '70s. I was a big fan of Todd Rundgren, Yes, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd -- music that pushed boundaries and challenged its listeners. I also loved simple, emotional roots rock, such as Ozark Mountain Daredevils, the Outlaws, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Allman Brothers. Appreciation for jazz grew out of being a high school band geek. I find these influences come together in current jam band music.
Music I'm Listening to Now: String Cheese Incident, Crooked Still, Shaman's Dream, New Monsoon, Cornmeal, Santana, Beatles, psychedelia.
