THE AGAPE EXPERIMENT -- The Strangefellow
Midnight to 3 am, alternating Saturdays -- Electronica/Breaks/Trance/Chill
"The Agape Experiment" is an audible experience deeply rooted in helping listeners
achieve a trance-like state with repeating beats, similar to older cultures and
their use of chanting and drumming to help all involved reach a common
wavelength. Simply put, it's an electronica show, mostly in the styles of
breaks, progressive trance, and downtempo chill. "The Agape Experiment" is a more
intense spin off of the Strangefellow's early days on the "Divided Sky," taking
listeners on a musical journey, riding the crests of the waves of sound, down
into the valleys, and back up again. This is the perfect show to listen to
after a night out, whether you want to continue rockin' it, or are in the mood
to chill with friends with a nightcap.
The Strangefellow's musical tastes and inspirations come from years of consuming and digesting music, mainly through live shows. He travels outside the valley frequently to see new DJs spin, and live bands perform. His main inspiration is to continue being a conduit for creativity and music, passing it on to the community through radio and live dj performances.
The music scene at Burning Man has provided new ideas and styles for the Strangefellow to sample since 2004; this scene is evolving outward into communities like the Grand Valley, helping people open their eyes a little bit wider through music.
Currently listening to: So much... "Agape Experiment"-related artists include Bookashade, Freq Nasty, Bassnectar, Infected Mushroom, Boreta, Breakbeatbuddha, Amon Tobin, and even some Moby when the mood is right. The latest to shake me up is Simian Mobile Disco.
