Fall Virtual 5k October 7-11th. Girls on the Run of Western Colorado’s Fall Virtual 5K event is October 7-11th. Girls on the Run Western Colorado is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program that uses fun running games and dynamic discussions to teach life skills to girls in 3rd - 8th grade. During the program, girls participate in lessons that foster confidence, build peer connections and encourage community service while they prepare for an end-of-season celebratory 5K event. Participation in the Fall Virtual 5K is open to the public and all proceeds from the event will benefit Girls on the Run of Western Colorado. The Fall Virtual 5K is in lieu of the THREE in-person 5Ks hosted every fall across Western Colorado. We will miss the energy in Durango, Frisco, and Steamboat Springs, but we’re excited to experience another season of remote connectedness! Rest assured that we are still working hard to do EVERYTHING in our power to serve our girls and teams! However, we still have a need, and due to our current projected deficit, we will be forced to take an organizational pause until we are able to re-group and re-open. We are optimistic that our Girls on the Run community and supporters will rally with us, and that together we will keep GOTR running. The cost for the Fall Virtual 5K is $50 for a family of 4, $15 for an individual and $10 for a canine. Enter your canine in our best dressed dog contest for a chance to win a dog friendly gift basket from Chow Down! A finisher’s certificate will be emailed to all registered participants after October 11. To sign up or for more information please visit www.gotrwesterncolorado.org Thank you to our program sponsor Alpine Bank and to our canine companion sponsor Chow Down Pet Supplies.

invitation to visit their joint exhibit and tour of a working artist's studio. More than 100 works will be available featuring a variety of subject matter, size and style. Bud's representational oils, which focus principally on western themes, are in collections nationwide. His artistic philosophy can perhaps best be described as, ""First see, then do,"" and he believes each painting stands on its own, reserving final judgment for the viewer. Barbara's oil and pastel paintings of the western landscape are impressionistic and expressive. She has attained ""Signature"" and ""Master Signature"" status in multiple regional and national organizations. An image of her work appears below. _____________________________________________________ NOTE: When attending, please follow Covid-19 masking and social distancing protocols.

Samantha Fish! “That was my mission on this album: To really set these songs up so that they have a life of their own,” says Samantha Fish about Kill or Be Kind, her sixth solo album and her debut on Rounder Records. “Strong messages from the heart – that’s what I really set out for.” Indeed, what comes across immediately on hearing the album is the extraordinary level of songcraft on its eleven tracks, the way these songs are so smartly put together to deliver a potent emotional impact. Anyone who has ever heard Fish’s previous albums knows that she has earned a place in the top rank of contemporary blues guitarists and that her voice can wring the soul out of a ballad and belt out a rocker with roof-shaking force. And, rest reassured, those virtues are fully in evidence on Kill or Be Kind. But each of the songs on the album does far more than simply provide a setting for Fish’s pyrotechnics. They tell captivating stories, set up by verses that deftly set the scene, choruses that lift with real feeling, and hooks that later rise up in your thoughts, even when you’re not aware that you’re thinking of music at all. It’s the kind of songwriting that emerges when raw talent is leavened by experience and aspiration, and when a committed artist genuinely has something to say. Those qualities make Kill or Be Kind a genuine artistic breakthrough for Fish. https://www.samanthafish.com/ In accordance with local safety guidelines, the show will have a reduced capacity and all ticket purchasers must reside in one of the following counties: Mesa / Montrose / Delta / Garfield / Pitkin / Rio Blanco / Gunnison / Ouray / Eagle.
