The Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado supports public radio and television programming throughout Colorado because it entertains, informs and inspires thoughtful discussion about issues facing us as Coloradans. We proudly support stations located in cities like Durango, Colorado Springs, Grand Junction and Greeley.
This story focuses on KAFM Community Radio in Grand Junction, Colorado, one of the Gay & Lesbian Fund's 2010 Public Broadcasting grantees. KAFM 88.1 reaches more than 130,000 listeners weekly across western Colorado and online. The volunteer-operated station strives to not only provide music programming that is diverse and entertaining, but also local news that is reflective of all people in the Grand Junction community, creating dialogue around shared values and common goals.
