About KAFM Board Governance
In 2001, The KAFM Board of Directors made a strategic decision to institute a dynamic model of board governance called Policy Governance. This highly acclaimed model allows Board members to focus on long-range planning rather than operational minutia.
It has been overwhelmingly successful in helping to create an organization that is responsive, creative and highly accountable for superior results.
By setting out clearly defined goals and policies for management, the board can focus on mission and strategic agendas. Management, in turn, is given the authority and flexibility to operate the organization within these pre-established guidelines. Policy Governance has been instrumental in creating an organization that in just a few short years has become one of the most widely respected and highly effective non-profits in the Grand Valley.

John Anglim
John Anglim arrived in Grand Junction in 2000. He owns ReSource Design and provides graphic design, writing and marketing services to business and organizations of all sizes and descriptions. John has a special affinity for working with non-profits. He designs and writes all the marketing and promotional material for the station. Additionally, John is a musician with the band, Flat Top Reed, and an artist and photographer, whose work can be seen in numerous galleries around the valley.
John's passion for the station is evident by his involvement in nearly every aspect of its growth and development. Bruce Bonar, Secretary
In addition to being on the KAFM Board of Directors, Bruce is an active KAFM volunteer, and continues as one of the original Studio D concert sound engineers. He is also very active in local city government. He is a member the Fruita City Council, is Chairman on the Fruita Board of Adjustments, and is also on the Fruita Tree Board. He previously served on the Fruita Planning Commission and the Community Master Plan Steering Committee.

He has worked as a cartographer, land and river guide, race car mechanic and crew chief, worked in fisheries biology with Colorado River endangered fishes, and was Lead Quality Control Chemist at a chemical manufacturing plant.
He enjoys playing with old Golden Retrievers, old Landcruisers and sailing canoes.
Gretchen Reist Henderson
Sarah Lee Marshall
Steve Thompson
Steve was born and raised in Grand Junction and have spent most of his life living on the Western Slope of Colorado. He has many family members and friends that live close by and he owns a local company called Project Coordinators Inc. that helps people with projects. He has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Grand Junction for nearly 20 years and is a past president. In addition, he has served as Housing Chairman for the JUCO committee for nearly 15 years. He also has volunteered at KAFM for the past four years and currently has a variety show every third Saturday from 3 pm - 6 pm and a community affairs show called Construction 101 on every fourth Tuesday at 12:30 pm. He is now alternating Wednesdays from 6 am - 9 am as well.
During his life, he has raised three children, skied and climbed many of Colorado’s highest mountains, served four years in the U.S. Air Force, hitchhiked across Canada and has had many other travels and wonderful experiences. During it all, music has been his constant companion and inspiration. He has a great deal of fun participating at KAFM. "The people and the experience have all been incredible and I would encourage anyone to get involved with these great people."
Claudia Ragar
Claudia Ragar, Development Manager at Marillac Clinic, has worked in the non-profit world for over 15 years in the area of public education and health care. Beyond her love of a wide variety of music, she enjoys all that the Grand Valley has to offer in outdoor adventure and solace in nature. Her greatest claim to fame, however, is being the mother of KAFM's youngest programmer, Dillon.
Craig Roberts, Vice-President
Craig Roberts is a licensed landscape architect who has been happily plying his trade in Grand Junction for 26 years. His volunteer work spans the gambit from the Western Colorado Center for the Arts, the Red Cross, the Battered Women's Shelter, the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado, and Hospice and Palliative care of Western Colorado. His volunteer work at KAFM Community Radio continues his desire to improve his community through private non profits.
Angelina Salazar
Angelina Salazar has been a KAFM board member since 2006. A graduate of the University of Colorado twice, Angelina began her career entrenched in education teaching all levels of students in English and Spanish. Her path led her to teaching international students, which in turn provided her the opportunity to later visit her students in their home countries, intensifying her love for travel. Gaining perspectives from around the world undoubtedly enhanced her career and ability to think beyond the familiar. After moving to Grand Junction in 2000, her experiences led her into the nonprofit sector. From protecting farm and ranchland to running a public television station, Angelina gained extensive experience in marketing, fundraising, special events, public relations and on-going campaigns to raise community awareness and support. She currently works as "Chief Evangelist" for Ryan, Whitney & Co, a full service advertising agency in downtown Grand Junction.
Jen Rieke Taylor – President
Jen Rieke Taylor moved from nearby Telluride to Grand Junction in 1992 (or was it '93?) in search of a small town that exuded character and community. It took a full year before she realized Grand Junction was that very place. Fifteen years later, she is a business owner (Mountain Sprouts), mom of three, avid mountain biker, trail runner, telemark skier, aficionado of vintage motorcycles and Land Cruisers and resident Board Vice President for Grand Valley Public Radio Company. She is proud to be a civic leader in this community by serving the Grand Valley's non-profit central nervous system, KAFM.
