One of the oldest and most well-known printmaking processes, relief prints have limitless potential for image making. Working reductively, students will carve their images into woodblocks, ink up just the surface, and run through the printing press (or by hand) onto a thin Eastern paper. The result is a stunning and bold full color graphic image, with a subtle wood grain texture symbolic of the technique. Students may choose to focus on developing one image and printing an edition (multiple copies), or work with the reductive process for a full color print.
Jennifer Ghormley received her MFA in printmaking in 2006 from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and her BFA with an emphasis in printmaking in 2002 from Metropolitan State College of Denver. Jennifer actively shows her work through national juried exhibitions, exchanges, and invitation exhibitions.
