Kathy Hirsh studied painting and botany in college and completed a Master’s in medical illustration. Always drawing and painting, she worked as a surgical illustrator for 25 years, and after many years of black and white found her passion in color. Kathy has been teaching painting and figure drawing for 10 years, here in the states and in China.
Kathy believes everybody can learn to draw. She will teach technical and artistic skills to build confidence in drawing the figure and portrait through a variety of contemporary and fun exercises. These sessions are open to all regardless of your level of experience. Beginners are welcome. The group will be working from a live model both days. The students will be working in black and white, improving drawing and seeing skills and learning to see value, edges and negative space. And always: The unspoken benefit of learning to draw and paint is getting into the “zone”. Akin to a meditative experience, drawing helps artists feel fully involved, focused and energized.
