This lecture will be presented by Dr. Jared Workman, Assistant Professor of Physics at CMU, who uses computer simulations to study high energy astrophysical phenomena, including gamma ray bursts, solar flares and astrophysical explosions. Using the methods of computer simulation and data analysis, he studies the physical processes that create and sustain the components of our universe.
Dr. Workman's talk will provide a broad overview of the history, meaning, future and most interesting current problems in the field of cosmology, which is the study of the cosmos (the attempt to look as far back in time and as far into the future as possible in our universe), to explain where we came from and where we are going.
