50th Annual Altrusa Art Fair

Altrusa International of Grand Junction will be holding their 50th annual Altrusa Art Fair at The Art Center April 20-27. The Altrusa Art Fair highlights art created by the middle and high school students of the Grand Valley. Both public and private schools are invited to submit art pieces to be displayed and judged. Each show contains over 500 pieces of art. Categories include drawing, painting, jewelry making, printmaking, photography, ceramics, mixed media, sculpture, computer graphics, functional design, and textile & fabric.
The Altrusa Art Fair began in 1963 under the leadership of Frieda Hume and the Altrusa members. Ruth Moss, an Altrusan, was instrumental to getting the show started. The first show was held in the Lincoln Park Barn. Most years, the show has been held in The Art Center.
For the 50th, Altrusa will be holding a special reception to honor past participants (teachers, winners and judges) on Friday evening April 19. Winners of this year’s art show will be honored with a reception and slideshow on Saturday April 20 at The Art Center. The middle school reception will begin at 11 a.m. and the high school reception will be at 1 p.m. Receptions will include a slideshow of the winning pieces and judges comments.
In addition to the Annual Art Fair, Altrusa International of Grand Junction will also be providing food and refreshments for the First Friday opening and reception on March 1st. Thank you, Altrusa for your generous support.
