The Outsiders was formed 19 years ago as a plein air painting group of women who travel near (the Grand Mesa) and far (Europe) for their inspiration. The Outsiders today: Wilda Fortune, Sheri Balke, Mary Moss, Gailen Schmidt and Mary Ellen Andrews remain committed to their love of nature, and to capturing the essence of that beauty. Plein air works of aspens, flowers, mountains and rivers will adorn the walls of The Art Center Studio Colorado Gallery. Alongside these works will hang scenes from the Greek Island of Hydra. Colorful boats, remote fishing villages and the Greek PEOPLE themselves were the inspiration for these paintings.
“IT’S ABOUT PEOPLE”, people in every walk of life. “IT’S ABOUT PEOPLE” having coffee at Main St. Bagels, walking their dog in Sherwood Park, skiing down Snow Cloud at Powderhorn. “IT’S ABOUT PEOPLE” working in the lavender fields, viewing art at a museum, mending fishnets, and preparing a clay vase to fire in the kiln.
“IT’S ABOUT FACES” is an interactive exhibit of faces in every style, in every medium and Outsider inclination. Visitors, too, can “Make A Face”. Using the tools provided, the public is invited to participate in an artistic endeavor on the "IT'S ABOUT FACES" wall.
The Small Gems miniatures are also available for purchase. This is a great gift opportunity!
