Pastel Workshop

Several of the pastel artists asked if I would do a pastel workshop. The answer is YES! I would love to. The Paint and Play Pastel Workshop is be held in Moab, Utah. This 2-day workshop will be held November 17th and 18th. All levels are welcome.

For those who do not know me, I am a professional artist who teaches art at all levels including adults, college students and I have known to teach the little people. I have participated in the Moab Plein Air festivals over the last 3 years and I just finished up an Artist-in-Residence gig in Escalate, Utah during the month of September. I work in pastels, watercolor and oils depending on the subject matter. I show my artwork at the Blue Pig Gallery and have received awards in regional and national shows.

This hands-on workshop objective is to explore making art with pastels in a simple, fun, understandable way. In this workshop you will:

· Discover or rediscover your inner child.

· Have fun creating shapes with lines

· Get a better grasp on elements of art and principals of design.

· Practice simplifying shapes

· Learn the value of values

· Put together interesting compositions

· Understand more about color combinations to harmonize your image

· Learn new tips and tricks

I will demonstrate many concepts and you will have plenty of time for practice and will receive tons of one-on-one attention. Also, by taking this workshop with other artists, you will benefit from being with one another. Most important, no matter what level artist you are, you will leave this two-day workshop with increased confidence and a boatload of new skills and ideas.

Because the workshop is in November and the weather is always uncertain this time of year, the workshop will be held Moab, Utah at the Zion Bank

The sign up deadline is November 5th, less then 3 weeks from now. In order to hold the class and cover expenses, the minimum number of students is 5 and maximum is 14. To reserve your space please call me or send me an email or mail in the form below. Note: a $25 deposit is required.

Supplies Required:

An assortment of hard and soft pastels, pencil, eraser, sketchbook, sanded paper (let me know if you need this and I can supply it for a cost) rubbing alcohol, soft watercolor brush but not expensive, Board to draw on, easel if available, tape, reference material, drop cloth and paper towels.
