People often chat at cocktails parties about past lives, but few actually explore the possibility. For poet Hilary DePolo, her past lives became the inspiration of a body of poetry and an exhibition of visual art based on that poetry.
Ms. DePolo is a poet and playwright living in Denver, CO. Many years ago, she participated in a past life regression during which a hypnotist took her back into lives from three separate time periods. The images of these hypnotic trances stayed with her and became the basis of character poems. In each poem she explores a character she may have met in previous time on earth. To heighten the experience of the written word, Ms. DePolo sought participation of visual artists to react and respond to the poetry.
The exhibition, based on the book, PAST LIVES ~ encounters from previous sojourns, includes 22 poems and 22 pieces of visual art.
Visual artists include: Patricia Aaron, Denver, CO, Dawn Williams Boyd, Atlanta, GA, Ted Fish, Salida, CO, Michael Brangoccio, Boonville, IA and Karen Z. Haynes, Denver, CO
