Come take a creative leap on First Friday in January when Poets Take the House. This is no New Year’s Resolution; it’s a New Year’s Inspiration. The Art Center will host four poets who hold four very different perspectives and approaches to their work, offering four unique performances all focused on one theme, Make It New. Poets/performers featured at this event include, Frank Coons, LadySpeech, Wendy & Shawnee Videlock, and Stewart S. Warren. Peot Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer will be the master of ceremonies for the First Friday event.
Upon entering, guests will be greeted by the music of Peg Oswald on Native American flute in the Atrium Gallery. The local drumming group Grand Junction Hand Drummers will open the event at 7 pm in Studio Colorado and close the poetry performances at the end of the evening.
“We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.” from the movie, Dead Poet's Society
Celebrity bartenders include Caole Lowry of Planet Earth Gallery, DJ Strangfellow, and Bernie Buescher, former Secretary of State.

Doors open 6:30 pm, performance 7:00 pm. This event is curated by Luis Lopez & Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer and possible through the generous sponsorship of Farolito Press. Image of LadySpeech fromDenver, CO
