On March 30, at 7 pm, KAFM Lifelong Learning @ The Radio Room is proud to present Lydia Herron and "Our History is Our Strength" for women’s history month.
The National Women’s History Project (NWHP) is celebrating their 31st year of "Writing Women Back into History." March is National Women’s History Month, and this year’s theme of the NWHP is "Our History is Our Strength." For the 2011 celebration of women’s history, NWHP encourages us all to discover stories about family members and local women who bravely met and overcame the challenges they faced, from tenaciously keeping their family together, to courageously standing up for their rights as women and half of humankind. Please visit their website (www.nwhp.org) for ways to honor these women, and for web links to other celebrations across the country. March 8, 2011 is the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day.
Lydia Vessels Herron is a rebel, teacher and lover of women’s history. One of her favorite mottos is “If Mamma Ain’t Happy, Ain’t Nobody Happy.” Her business, To the Past & Back, History & Design spreads the good word about women and feminine energy in an otherwise masculine paradigm. Lydia’s many creative endeavors include collage, altered art and spirit dolls. She can be contacted by phone at 858-9787, or by email.
Don’t miss Lydia Herron and “Our History is our Strength” at the Lifelong Learning presentation, Wednesday, March 30 in the Radio Room at 7 pm.
