KAFM’s Lifelong Learning series presents Marc Foster at 7 pm on February 23, speaking about the value of recording our stories and sharing them with families and friends.

Marc Foster is a man of many passions, his family, dancing, music… and on February 23, Marc will share one of his most recent passions, his published memoir, SEASONS OF A LIFE - LETTERS TO MY SONS.  Marc plans on using some excerpts from his writing as examples, but Marc stresses this is not about his book.  Marc plans to talk about his belief that everyone has a story to tell.

Why tell it?  How much of your life do you really want to share?  These were questions Marc posed while we were talking about his upcoming presentation.  Most people don’t realize how fascinating their lives really are, especially to our families and friends.  And they assume no one really wants to hear what they have to say.  Use your own life for example.  How much would you give to be able to really listen to that story you only half-listened to when your mother was still alive?

Marc Foster says “this is the gift you have to give to your children, your story, and your history.”  The story of where and how you grew up.  What was that time like?  What are the childhood memories?  What are the stories of you children growing up?

Marc believes these are the really meaningful gifts we have to pass down.  Marc will talk about the value of telling your story and how much to tell.  Marc will share some practical “how tos”  of getting your story down on paper.

Marc was born and raised in Wisconsin and has lived in Michigan, Indiana, Maryland and Texas. He has lived in the Grand Valley since 1992. Marc is a trained wedding officiant and funeral celebrant, performing 50+ ceremonies each year. For work and pleasure, he has traveled to more than 39 countries. He has played percussions since junior high school, and live music of all genres and independent films are his entertainment passions. Marc is also a proud owner and rider of a 1981 Honda CBX motorcycle. He has three grown sons who live in Denver, Atlanta and Bucharest, Romania.

Marc has been an on-air programmer since KAFM’s inception in 1999. Over these years, he has programmed several different shows. He also served three years on KAFM's first Board of Directors from 1999-2001.

Don’t miss Marc Foster on February 23, 2011 at 7 pm in the KAFM Radio Room and put words to your own story.
