Lifelong Learning @ The Radio Room welcomes Brian Gregor to speak about the his experience recently in Afghanistan.

Brian Gregor has been an officer for 12 years and has just finished 2 years in Afghanistan.

He worked in the FDD (Focus District Development) and the IDR (Initial District Reconstruction). Brian was embedded with both the US Army and the US Marines working and teaching the Afghan Police. Brian’s main focus was teaching the Afghan Police how to create the safest and most efficient entry when searching homes. During his two years in Afghanistan, he learned some of the language which is both Dari and Pashtu as well as the culture in Afghanistan. He was able to work with and learn from the Afghan people and took many pictures of the landscape. Brian says he went there to teach the police and ended up learning more than he feels he taught. Brian says he also worked with police from all over the world as well as many coalition forces stationed with him.

Brian’s main focus will be on the culture, what they eat, what they speak and how they relate to others. Brian also hopes to dismiss some common myths about Afghanistan.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience culture from another part of the world right here in the Radio Room, June 28 at pm.
