THE PLOT THICKENS
Writing, Teaching, and Publishing Mystery Fiction
6:00pm-7:30pm, The Art Center 1803 N. 7th Street, GJ, CO 81501
The May Writer’s Night session will focus on mystery fiction but will also include a broader discussion of the importance of perseverance and

variety, which impact all of us who write and publish. My own publications include short mystery stories, the most recent of which began as a novel-in-a-month; it has taken me four years to turn this work into a publishable story. I have been greatly fortunate to be self-supporting as a writer in part because my work includes a Pearson textbook that seems totally unrelated to mystery fiction, but I believe it fundamentally relies on the same kind of creative energy. I look forward with considerable enthusiasm to your comments, questions, and perspectives about these issues. Speaker - Lyn Fraser

comedians and an exclusive tour of our latest exhibition, this is an event you won’t want to miss! The night kicks off with a special Comedians Talk Art Tour, where guests will join The Art Center's Curator, Matthew Jones, alongside comedians BK Sharad and Sammy Anzer for an educational and comedic twist on art tours. Comedians say the quiet part out loud and aren't afraid to show how little they know about art. This makes for a tour that's more relaxed, more approachable, a little silly, and unlike any other. Join Matthew and our comedians for an intimate exploration of our newest exhibition, Contemporary Masters – The Wednesday Group, featuring artwork by Daniel Sprick, Mitch Caster, Emily Olson, and many others. Limited tickets available (20 spots only). You might've seen BK Sharad at the Netflix is a Joke Festival or in one of his viral stand-up videos with millions of views. His unique perspective—shaped by his experience as a former emo, hockey-playing, first-generation Indian millennial—delivers a fresh and hilarious outlook on life. Sammy Anzer is a national touring headliner who has performed everywhere from Aspen to the Apollo. He's written for Kevin Hart's LOL Network and performed alongside Kevin Nealon, DL Hughley, and Maria Bamford. Rooster Magazine in Denver describes his performances as blending "joy with contemplation," offering insightful societal commentary that inspires reflection while maintaining an uplifting atmosphere.
